The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This role will support the business throughout the project lifecycle, from pursuit and contract negotiation through project completion. The position is based in Michigan and follows a hybrid schedule of three days in the office each week.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate construction and commercial agreements.
- Advise project teams on contract risk and compliance matters.
- Support projects from pursuit through closeout.
- Develop contract templates, playbooks, and standard forms.
- Manage and improve CLM processes and workflows.
- Partner with risk and insurance teams on contractual obligations.
- Assist with dispute resolution and claims-related matters.
- Support energy, power, and infrastructure projects.
- Assist litigation counsel with investigations and document reviews.
- Lead legal operations and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience.
- Construction contract drafting and negotiation experience required.
- Experience supporting energy, power, industrial, or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Familiarity with CLM platforms and legal technology.
- Strong background in contract negotiation and risk management.
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working directly with operations and business leadership.
