The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney to join their team in Houston, TX (hybrid). This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes matters in a non-volume-driven environment, with significant courtroom exposure and a clear path toward first-chair trial responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of complex insurance defense matters from inception through resolution or trial
- Take and defend fact and expert depositions
- Handle mediations, hearings, and court appearances
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment
- Collaborate with partners on litigation strategy and case planning
- Play a key role in trial preparation, including second-chair trial work with progression toward first-chair responsibility
- Work closely within a lean, high-performing team while maintaining autonomy over your caseload
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) required
- Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing
- 4-10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Strong deposition, motion practice, and courtroom experience
- Trial experience required (second chair minimum; first chair preferred)
- Ability to independently manage cases and drive strategy
- Excellent analytical, writing, and advocacy skills
