Senior Counsel - Commercial at Late Stage AI Startup

We are partnered with a late-stage AI startup hiring a Senior Counsel to mainly support a high volume of commercial agreements, while also supporting IP, Product, Privacy, Employment, and relevant corporate work.

The company is well funded (raised over $100M in their latest round in 2025), is valued at unicorn status, has a few hundred employees globally, and an established/growing legal team of ~5. The role will report into the #2 lawyer in the legal team, with strong visibility to the General Counsel and leadership across the business.

This role is hybrid (3 days a week) in the Manhattan office (will not reconsider relocation candidates at this time. Compensation includes base salary and equity.

Day to Day Responsibilities include:

  • Handling a high volume of commercial deal work, including SaaS, and IP licensing
  • Ability to draft and negotiate DPA and handle other privacy related matters
  • Help implement legal technology to help streamline the legal department with the broader business
  • Assist in general corporate and employment related legal work as needed

Background for this role:

  • JD and active bar in the US
  • Experienced in a Commercial focused legal role with a proven track record working with sales teams
  • 5+ years of legal experience (some in house experience in the tech sector required)
  • Candidates with a mix of law firm and in house strongly preferred
  • Located in the NYC area and open to being in office on a hybrid schedule
