The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Oil & Gas Associate to join its Houston, Texas office. This role is ideal for an attorney with 3-6 years of oil and gas experience, whether focused on transactional work, energy litigation, or a combination of both. Attorneys will have the opportunity to work on sophisticated upstream, midstream, and downstream matters while collaborating with a nationally recognized energy practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on a broad range of oil and gas matters, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, development projects, and commercial agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate energy-related agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, joint operating agreements, farmout agreements, and transportation agreements.
- Conduct legal due diligence and assist with transaction management from inception through closing.
- Support clients in energy-related disputes, contract interpretation matters, and complex litigation involving oil and gas assets and operations.
- Work directly with partners and clients on strategic legal and business issues.
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice groups and jurisdictions on complex matters.
- Assist with business development initiatives and client relationship management.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- 3-6 years of experience in a law firm environment with a focus on oil and gas transactions, energy litigation, or both.
- Experience handling acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, commercial agreements, energy-related disputes, or complex litigation matters.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, research, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent academic credentials and communication skills.
- Licensed to practice law, or eligible for admission, in the applicable jurisdiction.
