Medical Malpractice In-House Counsel

An international health system is looking for a Medical Malpractice In-House Counsel to support their legal team. The Medical Malpractice Counsel will be responsible for:

  • Managing all stages of litigation and claims, including service of process, subpoenas, pleadings, discovery, and case resolution, while supervising a paralegal and claims coordinator.
  • Overseeing low‑ to mid‑level risk claims, coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel, and ensuring timely, accurate legal responses and documentation.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and managing agreements, litigation‑related documents, discovery materials, and executive reports with clarity and precision.
  • Collaborating with senior attorneys, operational teams, and enterprise leadership to support effective claims management, e‑discovery processes, and litigation strategy across the organization

The Medical Malpractice Counsel should have the following qualifications:

Education & Skills

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Medical Malpratice experience on the defense side.
  • Working knowledge of e‑discovery platforms.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal or litigation experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Experience in healthcare, provider, or hospital‑related litigation required.

Licensure

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas.
  • Ability to become licensed in the organization's primary state of operations within one year of hire.
