The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their team in Houston, TX; Overland Park, KS; or Birmingham, AL. This is a senior-level role focused on negotiating and drafting complex EPC contracts, advising on risk management, and supporting procurement and operations teams throughout the lifecycle of major electric power and power generation projects. The position is on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate EPC, Design-Build, CMAR, and MSA contracts with customers.
- Support procurement and operations teams with subcontractor and vendor agreements.
- Advise on contract issues during project execution, including change orders.
- Assist with claims, litigation, and regulatory investigations.
- Travel to company locations, project sites, and negotiations as needed.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and active license to practice law.
- 8-15 years of transactional/commercial legal experience, including customer contracts and negotiations.
- Minimum 1 year of experience negotiating contracts in engineering or construction.
- EPC project experience in electric power or power generation strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
