In-House Counsel - AI & Emerging Technologies
A globally respected technology-driven organization is seeking a legal counsel to support its expanding work in AI. With a strong foundation in research and innovation, the company is developing advanced tools that are driving meaningful progress across multiple industries. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with technical teams on cutting-edge AI initiatives, helping shape legal strategy in a fast-evolving space. This role would be based out of the company's office in New York City.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal guidance on the development and deployment of AI and machine learning technologies
- Collaborate directly with engineering and product teams to embed legal considerations into the design and implementation of cutting-edge AI products.
- Draft, negotiate, and review complex agreements, including those related to AI research, data usage, licensing, and strategic partnerships.
- Advise leadership on legal structures and risk mitigation strategies for AI-related transactions and initiatives.
- Establish and maintain best practices across intellectual property, regulatory compliance, data privacy, and cybersecurity in the context of AI innovation.
Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum 5 years of product counseling experience, with a strong preference for in-house experience within the Tech industry legal experience
- Deep expertise in AI and machine learning legal frameworks, including data governance, IP, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of product counseling, especially in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments involving direct collaboration with engineering and product teams.
