Position Overview
We are seeking a talented litigation associate to join our Complex Litigation practice in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-exposure matters for a premier technology platform client, handling sophisticated civil litigation that involves cutting-edge legal issues at the intersection of technology, transportation, and emerging liability frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to take on significant responsibility early in their career, managing complex cases from inception through trial while working alongside experienced litigators who are committed to mentorship and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a sophisticated caseload of high-stakes civil litigation matters involving complex factual scenarios, novel legal questions, and evolving regulatory frameworks
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions, in both state and federal court
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses
- Engage in strategic case analysis and develop litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and directly with the client
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
- Assist in trial preparation and, where appropriate, take an active role in courtroom proceedings
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- 2-8 years of litigation experience, with preference for candidates with civil litigation, complex tort, or defense litigation backgrounds
- Active member in good standing of the New York State Bar (or ability to waive in)
- Demonstrated experience with motion practice, discovery management, and case strategy
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong oral advocacy and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
