Assistant Vice President, Regulatory Compliance

Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
A leading U.S.-based life and health insurance company is seeking a seasoned and strategic Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Regulatory Compliance to join its Compliance leadership team. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring enterprise-wide compliance with state and federal regulations, while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of regulatory compliance programs across the organization.
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring timely and effective implementation.
- Serve as a primary liaison with state Departments of Insurance and other regulatory bodies.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, with a strong emphasis on SERFF (System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing) processes.
- Manage responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations, particulartly pertaining to Med Supp
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Risk, Product, and Operations teams to align compliance strategies with business goals.
- Provide executive-level reporting on compliance risks, trends, and mitigation strategies.
- Lead and mentor a team of compliance professionals, promoting continuous learning and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; JD or advanced degree preferred.
- 4-7+ years of experience in regulatory compliance within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in SERFF filings and regulatory form/rate submissions is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of life and health insurance regulations, including HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, and state-specific requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
