We are currently instructed on an exciting opportunity for a 2-5 PQE Leveraged Finance Associate to join a leading US law firm in London. The firm is widely regarded as one of the elite names in the global legal market, with a standout reputation for complex, cross-border financing transactions and a consistently strong deal pipeline.
The Firm & Team
Our client operates a fully integrated international platform, advising financial sponsors, major corporates, and leading financial institutions on sophisticated financing matters. The London office plays a central role in the firm's global leveraged finance practice, working closely with US and European teams on high-value, multi-jurisdictional transactions.
The team is known for its technical strength, high-quality execution, and genuinely collaborative culture, offering an environment where associates are given both responsibility and support.
The Role
You will gain exposure to a broad range of leveraged finance work, including:
- Sponsor-backed acquisition financings and leveraged buyouts
- First and second lien facilities
- High-yield bond transactions and hybrid structures
- Private credit and direct lending
- Refinancings, restructurings, and liability management
You will work closely with partners and clients, with early responsibility and meaningful involvement in headline transactions.
Candidate Profile
- England & Wales qualified (preferred), though candidates qualified in Scotland and other comparable Commonwealth jurisdictions (including Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa) will also be considered
- 2-5 years' PQE with solid leveraged finance experience from a leading international or US firm
- Experience acting on sponsor-backed transactions and/or lender-side mandates
- Strong technical and drafting skills
- Commercial mindset and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative and proactive approach
