A rapidly growing renewable energy company is seeking a Legal Counsel or Senior Counsel to join its lean, high‑impact legal team. The company is well‑capitalized, actively acquiring operating wind and solar projects, and scaling quickly. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where everyone rolls up their sleeves to drive results. This position will be based in Houston, TX or Newtown, PA but remote considered for exceptional candidates.

About the Role

This position offers broad exposure across the full lifecycle of operating renewable energy assets. You'll support complex M&A transactions, portfolio operations, financings, repowerings, commercial arrangements, and day‑to‑day legal matters impacting a diverse asset base.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, practical, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support renewable energy acquisitions from diligence and structuring through negotiation, documentation, and closing.
  • Advise on repowerings, recontracting initiatives, tech/equipment swaps, and commercial optimization activities.
  • Handle portfolio-level legal needs, including joint ventures, consents, vendor agreements, EPC/O&M matters, and contract amendments.
  • Provide guidance on tax equity structures, ITC monetization, and other project finance elements.
  • Draft and negotiate PPAs, REC agreements, hedges, and other physical or virtual offtake arrangements.
  • Deliver practical, business‑focused legal advice on time-sensitive matters.

Qualifications

For Legal Counsel:

  • JD and admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • ~2-7 years of relevant experience (law firm, in-house, or a combination)
  • Background in M&A within energy, renewables, or infrastructure
  • Familiarity with PPAs, tax equity, or repowerings is a plus

For Senior Counsel:

  • JD and admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 7+ years of experience, ideally a mix of top law firm and in-house roles
  • Strong experience in renewable energy or infrastructure M&A
  • Exposure to project finance structures, repowerings, and offtake arrangements preferred
