CLIENT BACKGROUND
A leading multinational with a strong presence across Asia is expanding its in‑house legal function and is now seeking a Legal Counsel to support its growing regional operations. With business activities spanning multiple APAC markets and a fast‑moving commercial environment, this newly created role offers excellent exposure, diverse work, and direct engagement with senior management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to the business and provide legal guidance across a broad range of commercial and operational matters. Key responsibilities include:

  • Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements with customers and suppliers, including purchase and sale arrangements, terms & conditions, quality agreements, NDAs, and other operational contracts. Provide practical advice to help the business balance commercial objectives with legal risk.
  • Regional Legal Support: Support daily business operations across multiple APAC offices, advising on issues such as lease matters, vendor agreements, office fit‑out contracts, warehouse‑related procurement, and other business‑critical documentation.
  • Regulatory Research: Monitor, analyse, and interpret laws impacting business activities in the region (e.g., data privacy, personal information protection). Advise stakeholders on requirements, implementation implications, and best practices.
  • Training & Advisory: Provide regular training and guidance to sales and operational teams on contract terms, legal risks, and policies to enhance internal compliance awareness.
  • External Counsel Management: Coordinate with external law firms to ensure efficient and cost‑effective handling of specialised legal matters.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 5-10 years of legal experience, gained from an in‑house environment or leading law firm.
  • Strong grounding in general commercial work, particularly contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Ability to support regional stakeholders and navigate cross‑border regulatory considerations.
  • A business‑oriented mindset with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
