Key Responsibilities

As an Employment Litigation Associate, you will play a critical role in managing and litigating a diverse caseload of employment matters. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and responding to discovery requests and initial pleadings in employment-related disputes.
  • Preparing and arguing motions, including motions to compel, motions for summary judgment, and motions to dismiss.
  • Taking and defending depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and expert witnesses.
  • Managing multiple active cases simultaneously, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and strategic thinking.
  • Collaborating with partners and senior associates on case strategy, trial preparation, and client communications.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda on complex employment law issues.
  • Participating in mediations, settlement negotiations, and court appearances.
  • Advising clients on litigation risk, compliance, and best practices in employment law.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about employment law and eager to contribute to a high-performing legal team. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment litigation, preferably at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Bar Admission: Must be admitted to practice law in the State of California and in good standing.
  • Substantive Knowledge: Strong understanding of California and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws, discrimination and harassment statutes, and wrongful termination claims.
  • PAGA & Class Action Experience: Demonstrated experience handling Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) claims and wage and hour class actions is highly preferred.
  • Litigation Skills: Excellent writing, research, and oral advocacy skills. Experience with depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation is essential.
  • Client Service: Ability to build strong relationships with clients and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also managing responsibilities independently.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
