Labor and Employment Associate
My client is seeking a strong Employment Litigation Associate with 3-5 years of complex litigation experience to join their highly ranked Labor & Employment practice in New York. The team represents employers across a broad range of industries in high‑stakes employment matters and provides proactive counseling on evolving workplace challenges.
About the Role
You will work on sophisticated matters, including:
- Litigating wage and hour class and collective actions under New York Labor Law (NYLL) and federal law
- Handling single‑plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases
- Advising on restrictive covenant and non‑compete issues under New York law
- Taking and defending depositions
- Drafting substantive motions, including motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions
- Appearing in court for contested hearings
- Counseling employers on New York wage and hour compliance, audits, and policy updates
What My Client Is Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:
- 3-5 years of complex employment litigation experience
- Strong knowledge of federal and New York employment laws
- Experience independently managing core litigation tasks
- NY wage and hour experience (NYLL, pay frequency regulations, exemptions, etc.)
- Experience with restrictive covenant matters under NY law
- Traditional labor experience is a plus, but not required
- A background with a top‑tier law firm and strong academic credentials, reflecting a record of excellence in both training and performance
