General Counsel- High Growth AI Technology Company

About the Opportunity

A rapidly scaling venture-backed technology company is seeking its first General Counsel to build and lead the legal function during a period of significant growth. The company operates at the intersection of AI, enterprise software, and innovation, serving some of the world's most recognizable brands and experiencing exceptional market momentum.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly strategic leadership role where you'll work closely with executive leadership, shape critical business decisions, and establish the legal infrastructure needed to support the next stage of growth. The ideal candidate is business-minded, hands-on, and excited by the opportunity to build from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to leadership across all areas of the business.
  • Lead corporate governance, equity matters, financing transactions, and other strategic corporate initiatives.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including complex customer and vendor contracts.
  • Partner closely with sales, product, people, and operations teams to provide practical legal guidance that supports business growth.
  • Build scalable legal processes, contract templates, and playbooks to improve efficiency across the organization.
  • Advise on employment matters, policy development, and workforce-related compliance.
  • Oversee intellectual property strategy, portfolio management, and protection of company assets.
  • Manage outside counsel and provide guidance on regulatory, compliance, and risk management matters.
  • Support strategic transactions, partnerships, and potential M&A opportunities as the company continues to scale.

Requirements

  • J.D. and active U.S. bar membership.
  • 7+ years of legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience within a high-growth technology, SaaS, or software company.
  • Must be able to go onsite 4 days a week
  • Strong background supporting corporate governance, commercial transactions, and operational legal matters.
  • Experience negotiating enterprise customer agreements and complex commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and emerging technology regulations
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong business judgment with a practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal issues.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
