Position Overview: The firm is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support its growing portfolio of complex, multi-phase engineering projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with prior experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project accounting functions for multiple active projects, ensuring accurate tracking of budgets, costs, and billing.

  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor financial performance and forecast project profitability.

  • Prepare monthly project reports, variance analyses, and client invoices in accordance with contract terms.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and industry-specific accounting standards.

  • Support audits and assist with year-end financial close related to project accounting.

  • Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements within the finance department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of project accounting experience within the AEC industry.

  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle financials, including WIP, revenue recognition, and cost allocations.

  • Proficiency in accounting software commonly used in the AEC sector (e.g., Deltek, BST, CMiC, or similar).

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational abilities.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $100,000-$115,000 per year.

  • Hybrid work model with 3 days onsite at the NYC office.
