Labor & Employment Paralegal
OVERVIEW
This role involves diverse tasks related to employment matters, such as drafting responses, conducting research, interviewing witnesses, handling litigation, and responding to subpoenas. It also includes regular interaction with external legal counsel, management, and senior leaders nationwide.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborating with legal counsel on significant issues and identifying necessary information.
- Coordinating with external counsel to oversee case activities.
- Preparing and reviewing responses for EEOC and state/local agency inquiries.
- Performing factual and legal research using electronic databases and other resources.
- Managing the assignment of cases and claims received by the Company and its subsidiaries.
- Collecting and organizing relevant documents and assisting with witness interviews.
- Advising Company locations nationwide on required documentation and information for cases and claims.
- Ensuring departments and personnel comply with subpoenas and other discovery requests.
- Preparing and overseeing legal holds.
- Managing case data and financial information in Company databases.
- Handling the preparation, filing, and management of insurance claims.
- Collaborating with the finance department on case and claim accruals.
- Drafting records holds and addressing e-discovery needs.
- Maintaining files and communicating with claims adjusters.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 5+ years of experience in Employment Law.
- Bachelor's Degree with Paralegal Certification from an ABA-accredited institution.
- Experience with Risk Console or other risk management information systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting legal documents, government regulations, insurance documents, financial reports, and professional journals.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information to peers, supervisors, business locations, and legal vendors.
