OVERVIEW

Our client is a fast-growing developer and marketer of a proprietary, clinically studied ingredient focused on cognitive health and wellness. Backed by a strong portfolio of patents and scientific research, this ingredient has demonstrated the unique ability to reach the brain in ways traditional formulations cannot.

The company is seeking its first in-house legal hire to serve as a senior legal leader overseeing intellectual property protection, enforcement, and core commercial matters. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this individual will play a critical role in safeguarding the company's IP assets while supporting ongoing global expansion and commercialization efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Intellectual Property Enforcement & Litigation

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive IP enforcement strategy across domestic and international markets, including matters involving patents, trademarks, and unfair competition
  • Manage enforcement initiatives from initial assessment through resolution, including drafting cease-and-desist letters, coordinating litigation, negotiating settlements, and converting infringers into commercial partners where appropriate
  • Monitor and manage IP infringements across digital and e-commerce platforms

IP Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Advise senior leadership on intellectual property risks related to business initiatives, partnerships, and market expansion
  • Collaborate with outside counsel globally on patent portfolio management, licensing strategies, and exclusivity considerations

Commercial & General Legal Support

  • Partner with the executive team to manage a global network of external law firms
  • Review and refine commercial agreements in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency and quality
  • Provide guidance on corporate governance matters, including maintaining corporate records and filings
