Position Overview

The IP Specialist will be a vital contributor to the company's Intellectual Property Department and will focus on managing daily IP-related tasks in support of the team's IP Counsel across a range of responsibilities.

Key Duties

  • Support the implementation and execution of IP procedures and policies to safeguard company innovations.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of intellectual property data.
  • Maintain logs tracking the progress of IP workflows.
  • Serve as the administrator for IP management and docketing systems.
  • Archive historical patent records and maintain documentation of legacy IP.
  • Keep an up-to-date record of patent and trademark statuses.
  • Monitor the progress of ongoing IP matters.
  • Help manage documentation related to patent marking.
  • Communicate with external legal counsel and track the progress of outsourced IP matters.
  • Participate in Patent Review Board meetings.
  • Track inventorship and assist with inventor recognition initiatives.
  • Compile and distribute monthly reports on IP metrics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in intellectual property administration or legal docketing.
  • Solid knowledge of intellectual property laws and procedures.
  • Skilled in using IP docketing and management software.
  • Familiarity with American and Canadian IP regulations and prosecution processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is preferred.
