Insurance Coverage Attorney - Multiple Locations
Salary: 150k/yr - 220k/yr
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney with a minimum of three years of relevant experience to join their growing team. The preferred office is Houston but can also be out of the Baton Rouge or New Orleans offices. This position offers two distinct tracks-litigation or advisory-depending on your interests and strengths. Key Responsibilities
Litigation Track:
Handle all aspects of third-party insurance coverage litigation
Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery
Conduct and defend depositions
Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials
Prepare and argue dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment
Work in both state and federal courts
Advisory Track:
Analyze and interpret insurance policies, including CGL, professional liability, and commercial auto
Draft clear and persuasive coverage opinions and position letters
Conduct in-depth legal research on complex coverage issues
Advise clients on policy wording, risk transfer, and claims strategy
Support both domestic and London market clients
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Texas
Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance coverage law
Strong understanding of third-party coverage issues, including the Monroe extrinsic evidence exception
Excellent legal writing and research skills
Experience in litigation, advisory work, or both
Familiarity with personal injury defense or monitoring counsel work is a plus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
