The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced attorney to join their in-house legal team in New York. This role will serve as a strategic business partner, providing legal guidance on construction, commercial, and corporate matters while supporting project teams and senior leadership. The position offers broad exposure to contract negotiation, risk management, corporate governance, and infrastructure project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction and commercial agreements.
- Support the development and negotiation of joint venture, partnership, and other corporate agreements.
- Advise business leaders on legal, operational, regulatory, and compliance matters.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and improve legal processes across the organization.
- Assist with dispute resolution, claims management, and oversight of outside counsel.
- Partner closely with project teams to provide practical legal guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support mediation, litigation strategy, and other legal proceedings as needed.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and business partners.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or LL.M. degree required.
- Licensed to practice law in New York and in good standing.
- 5+ years of legal experience in a law firm, government, or in-house environment.
- Experience with public contracting, infrastructure projects, procurement, or bidding processes strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience advising clients or business stakeholders on complex legal matters.
- Strong understanding of balancing legal risk with business objectives.
- Government or public-sector infrastructure experience is preferred.
