VP Fintech Lending Counsel
A leading fintech-focused financial institution is seeking a VP, Fintech Lending Counsel to join its growing Legal Department. This newly created position will support innovative lending products and bank-fintech partnerships while serving as a strategic advisor to business, product, compliance, and risk stakeholders.

The VP, Fintech Lending Counsel will be responsible for…
- Advising on bank-fintech partnerships and sponsored lending programs
- Supporting the design, launch, implementation, and ongoing management of consumer and commercial lending products
- Partnering with product, compliance, risk, finance, and operational teams to provide practical legal guidance
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating partnership agreements, servicing agreements, loan sale agreements, disclosures, and related commercial contracts
- Advising on consumer finance, banking, and lending regulations
- Supporting legal and regulatory risk assessments for new and existing lending programs
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments impacting fintech lending and emerging credit products
- Working directly with external partners, fintech companies, and outside counsel
- Providing strategic legal advice that balances innovation, growth, and risk management
- Supporting cross-functional initiatives and high-priority business projects
The VP, Fintech Lending Counsel should have the following qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership
- 7+ years of legal experience within banking, fintech, financial services, or a related law firm practice
- Experience supporting bank-fintech partnerships and sponsored lending programs
- Strong knowledge of consumer and/or commercial lending laws and regulations
- Experience advising on fintech lending products, including installment loans, BNPL programs, Earned Wage Access products, or similar credit offerings
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and customer-facing documentation
- Ability to work effectively with business, compliance, risk, and operational stakeholders
- Strong business judgment and solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
