Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated IP Counsel with 3-5 years of experience in patent law or intellectual property and a strong interest in corporate and commercial law. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape IP strategy while supporting broader legal initiatives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

This is a hybrid position with flexibility to work remotely and on-site. You will collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, business development, and senior leadership teams.


Key Responsibilities

Intellectual Property/Patent Law

  • Develop and execute strategies for patent filings and prosecution related to advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and additive technologies
  • Advise business units on patentability and infringement risks for new product development
  • Manage the global patent portfolio and oversee prosecution activities
  • Partner with technical teams to identify and protect patentable innovations
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate and competitive landscape analyses
  • Support IP due diligence and licensing matters

Corporate & Commercial Law

  • Draft and review agreements including confidentiality, development, licensing, supply, distribution, and procurement contracts
  • Assist with compliance programs and provide training across the organization
  • Manage outside counsel and assist with litigation as needed
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company's operations, technologies, and markets to provide practical, business-focused legal advice


Qualifications

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in good standing
  • USPTO registration and admission to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office

Experience

  • 3-5 years of patent experience, ideally in materials science or manufacturing technologies
  • Interest in corporate and commercial legal work with willingness to expand expertise
  • Experience with international patent filings (PCT, national phase)
  • Familiarity with trademarks and licensing matters
  • Knowledge of alloy compositions, additive manufacturing, or powder metallurgy is preferred
