Inhouse Counsel (Asset Management)
The Role
As Legal Counsel, you will work closely with senior legal leadership, compliance colleagues, and investment professionals on a wide range of matters, including:
- Legal and regulatory support for investment activities across multiple jurisdictions
- Portfolio‑related legal, governance, and structuring issues
- Supporting new mandates and evolving strategies where precedents may not yet exist
- Working with external counsel across Asia and internationally
- Contributing to the development of internal legal and compliance frameworks as the platform grows
What We're Looking For
This role is less about having done a specific type of deal, and more about how you think and work.
We are keen to speak with lawyers who are:
- Adaptable and quick to learn, comfortable picking up new areas of law or unfamiliar situations
- Curious and creative, able to think beyond templates and market conventions
- Strong communicators, able to explain issues clearly and practically to non-lawyers
- Team‑oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working in a small, trusted legal function
- Long‑term minded, looking to grow with a platform rather than move frequently
Background & Experience
- Qualified lawyer with approximately 3-6 years' PQE
- Background may include:
- Top‑tier or strong international private practice
- In‑house roles within investment, corporate, or complex commercial environments
- Prior buy‑side experience is helpful but not required
- Exposure to Asia‑related matters is a plus, but Chinese language skills are not required
- Open to candidates with international backgrounds
