APAC Senior Trade Compliance Manager

CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client is a global organisation with a strong and expanding presence across the Asia Pacific region. Managing a highly complex supply chain and significant cross‑border trade volume, the company prioritises robust governance and best‑in‑class compliance frameworks. To strengthen its regional oversight, the business is seeking a senior leader to drive trade compliance excellence across APAC from its Shanghai office. This role will be based in the Shanghai office, working closely with regional and global stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
The Senior Trade Compliance Manager, APAC will serve as the regional authority on customs, export controls, and trade compliance strategy. Reporting into global leadership, this position will oversee the establishment, maintenance, and continual improvement of compliance programmes across multiple APAC markets.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading regional trade compliance strategies to ensure adherence to customs and export regulations
  • Overseeing classification processes, including HTS, valuation, and rules of origin
  • Managing export control requirements, including product classification and licence management
  • Driving effective governance of customs brokers and external partners
  • Overseeing transaction audits, documentation controls, and regulatory recordkeeping standards
  • Designing and delivering targeted training to enhance regulatory awareness across APAC teams
  • Supporting the deployment and optimisation of Oracle GTM or equivalent trade systems
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives and strengthening the regional compliance roadmap
  • Partnering with site leaders and cross‑functional teams as a trusted subject‑matter expert

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive experience in trade compliance, customs management, and export control within a multinational environment
  • Strong working knowledge of HTS classification, valuation rules, and origin management
  • Proven capability to lead regional compliance programmes and influence senior stakeholders
  • Hands‑on experience managing brokers, conducting audits, and handling regulatory interactions
  • Familiarity with trade compliance systems such as Oracle GTM or similar tools
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder‑management skills
  • A proactive, continuous‑improvement mindset with the ability to enhance existing frameworks
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English.
