A leading public institutional investor is seeking an experienced Senior Investment Management Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of law, finance, and public service-supporting a multi-billion-dollar investment portfolio across public and private markets.


🔹 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal due diligence on prospective investments, including review of term sheets, offering documents, and manager policies.
  • Negotiate complex investment contracts such as IMAs, LPAs, side letters, and subscription agreements.
  • Support compliance and governance processes, including policy development, recordkeeping, and regulatory monitoring.
  • Collaborate with investment staff and executive leadership on legal strategy and risk mitigation.
  • Draft board materials and respond to public records requests as needed.

🔹 Ideal Candidate Profile

  • JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in good standing (or willingness to register in D.C.).
  • 3-10 years of legal experience advising institutional investors, asset managers, or pension funds.
  • Strong knowledge of investment-related regulations (e.g., Securities Acts, Advisers Act, Dodd-Frank, ERISA).
  • Skilled in negotiating fund documents and managing compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
