Senior Associate Counsel

We are partnered with a reputable player in the consumer lending space that is looking to bring on a knowledgable and innovative attorney that will become an immediate game-changer for their established legal team. This role will play a critical role in assuring the business remains in compliance with state and federal financing regulations. Reporting directly to the company's General Counsel, this position will earn a highly competitive salary and have the ability to work on an extremely flexible remote work model.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the legal team in overseeing compliance initiatives related to consumer lending, data privacy, credit reporting, and vendor oversight.
  • Provide legal guidance on federal and state regulatory matters, including coordination with external legal advisors when needed.
  • Draft and refine internal policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Offer legal insight on business operations, particularly in the financial services and technology sectors.
  • Stay current on legal developments affecting multi-state lending and digital financial platforms.
  • Communicate regulatory updates to internal stakeholders and help implement necessary changes.
  • Prepare and review a variety of legal agreements, including lending documents, software contracts, NDAs, and commercial agreements.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed legislation and assist in drafting responses or recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives, including geographic and digital expansion.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare internal memoranda as required.

What We're Looking For:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5-15 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in consumer finance.
  • Strong understanding of key laws and regulations, including UCC Articles 2 & 9, UDAAP principle, FTC Act, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, ECOA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legal issues and communicate practical guidance.
  • Experience working with internal stakeholders and managing external counsel.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
