Investments Counsel - Alternative Asset Manager
Our client, an alternative asset manager focused in the private equity and private credit space, is looking to make its first legal hire. The firm is seeking to bring on an Investments Counsel to join the team as the firm continues to grow. The person in this role will work closely with senior leadership and partner with the wider business, especially the investment team, on ongoing transactions. This individual will also work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer on risk management frameworks while owning fund formation matters for the firms private funds and ongoing investments. This is a predominantly in office role with some flexibility
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal oversight and strategic advice on a wide range of operational and transactional matters including legal and regulatory due diligence throughout the deal process
- Draft and negotiate a variety of fund formation related documents and adjacent materials
- Support investments team in on going transactions
- Partner with compliance leadership to strengthen risk‑management practices
- Address ongoing legal needs across as needed
- Effective management of outside counsel
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active Bar Membership
- 6+ YOE of relevant legal work in private equity or investment management obtained in either Big Law OR In-House
- Strong understanding of investment fund structures and related operational, compliance, and reporting considerations
