Derivatives Counsel - Elite Hedge Fund
We are currently partnered with a multi-strategy hedge fund with a long-standing history of success in the market. The firm is seeking to add a derivatives counsel to support its ongoing growth and to provide legal expertise on transactions and regulatory matters related to the derivatives and trading business in the US. This individual will play a critical role in supporting and providing guidance to the legal team as it navigates the transactional landscape surrounding structured products and product development. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior business executives across the region while delivering impactful advice on legal and regulatory strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with the legal team on a range of equity derivative products, such as equity margin loans, fund financing, synthetic prime brokerage, equity swaps and options, as well as equity-linked notes and other structured products
- Review and draft trading and finance document requests from across the business, including more complex agreements related to derivatives, repurchase transactions, prime brokerage, and futures
- Review and escalate key commercial terms in trading documentation to the appropriate business teams, helping drive discussions with stakeholders while balancing legal requirements with practical considerations
- Collaborate with business teams on the development and rollout of new products
Requirements:
- JD from a top tier Law school
- 4+ years of experience in a derivatives practice from a top-tier law firm or in-house environment
- Experience with prime brokerage & OTC Clearing & ISDA Master Agreements
- Experience with US securities laws, including the Securities Act, the Exchange Act, FINRA and CFTC rules and regulations, broker-dealer regulations, and Dodd-Frank Title VII
