Coverage Counsel - REMOTE

We are currently partnered with a nationally respected legal team who is seeking an experienced attorney with a background in professional liability matters to support the oversight and resolution of complex claims. This position is ideal for a lawyer coming from a private law firm environment who is ready to take on a more strategic, advisory role. The focus will be on evaluating liability and coverage issues, managing risk, and guiding claims toward resolution across a range of professional and specialty insurance lines.

This is a fully remote role, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with a collaborative national team.

Coverage Counsel Key Responsibilities:

• Independently handle a portfolio of insurance claims, from early-stage review through final resolution.

• Analyze and interpret policy language in the context of professional liability, D&O, employment practices, and related areas.

• Draft formal communications articulating coverage positions, including reservation of rights and denial letters.

• Develop and implement strategic plans to resolve disputes, including negotiation and participation in mediations.

• Engage and oversee outside counsel, aligning legal strategy with business objectives.

• Provide concise reporting on legal exposure, case developments, and resolution options.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely, effective outcomes.

Coverage Counsel Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution and active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably gained in a private law firm setting.

• Strong legal writing, policy interpretation, and client advisory skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload with minimal oversight.

• Prior experience in insurance coverage analysis or professional liability matters is highly preferred.
