Corporate Counsel & Compliance - International Food & Beverage Company
Location: San Diego, CA
Compensation: $200,000 - $250,000 base + annual bonus + full benefits
A fast-growing, privately held company in a regulated industry is seeking a Corporate Counsel & Compliance professional to join its legal team. This is a strategic, hands-on role reporting directly to the General Counsel, offering broad exposure to legal, compliance, and operational matters across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance
- Lead and maintain the corporate compliance program, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct internal investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and update internal policies accordingly.
- Deliver compliance training to cross-functional teams and leadership.
Legal
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Develop and maintain contract templates and legal process documentation.
- Manage outside counsel and oversee legal matters including liability, employment, and subpoenas.
- Oversee data privacy compliance, including U.S. and global regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).
Required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum 5 years of legal experience, including corporate compliance and commercial contracts
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Preferred
- Compliance certification (e.g., CCEP)
- In-house experience in a regulated or technology-driven industry
