Associate General Counsel - Privacy/Data/Tech
Our client, a leading financial services company is looking to bring on an attorney to join its legal team as Associate General Counsel - Privacy/Data/Tech. The person in this role will be joining a team that advises the wider business on privacy, data/AI, technology and cyber security, working closely and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across the company to solve issues regarding the intersection of financial services, information technology and data. This team will work on a variety of regulatory, compliance and risk management matters and working closely with transactional teams. The role will be based out of the firms New Jersey office
Job Responsibilities:
- Track evolving regulatory and legislative developments, assess potential business impact, and represent the organization's perspectives through internal working groups and industry bodies
- Build, manage, and support governance and compliance frameworks, including policy upkeep and hands‑on involvement with examinations, disclosures, inquiries, and control reviews
- Lead legal strategy and execution for responses to operational disruptions, data security, and privacy‑related incidents, including ownership of response protocols and playbooks
- Partner with Information Security and Technology teams to interpret legal obligations, evaluate risk exposure, and embed regulatory considerations into operational decision‑making
- Support commercial activity by aligning with deal attorneys, business leaders, and procurement teams to refresh contracting standards and resolve complex or escalated vendor and client agreements
- Serve as a forward‑looking advisor on emerging legal risk areas while designing and delivering targeted training to strengthen organizational awareness and readiness
- Additional responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of legal experience with a preference for AM 100 Law Firm & In-House experience
- Juris Doctor and active bar membership
- Strong project management, organizational and communication skills
