A well-established real estate investment firm is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This individual will work closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders to support a broad range of real estate and corporate matters across the firm's investment portfolio.
This is an ideal opportunity for an attorney looking to gain hands-on exposure to transactions and business decision-making within a dynamic investment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support across real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and development projects
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, joint ventures, and financing documents
- Conduct and support due diligence for transactions, including title review, contract analysis, and risk identification
- Advise internal stakeholders on corporate contracts, vendor agreements, and general business matters
- Partner with asset management, finance, and operations teams to ensure legal alignment with business objectives
- Manage relationships with external counsel and oversee their work where appropriate
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting real estate investments and corporate operations
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership
- Minimum 4+ years of legal experience, with exposure to: Real estate transactions (preferred), and/or corporate contracts or general corporate matters
- Experience at a law firm or in-house legal team within real estate, investment management, or a related industry
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
