Asset Management Counsel - Global Asset Manager
Our client, a well-established investment management platform, is seeking a Funds Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney with a background in the asset management space to play a key role with registered fund matters while gaining a wide range of experience supporting a growing asset management business. This role will be based out of the company's New York City office with a hybrid in-office policy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and regulatory guidance related to investment management activities, investment products, and business operations.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements and legal documentation, including investment-related, commercial, and service provider contracts.
- Support the development, launch, and ongoing maintenance of investment products and business initiatives.
- Analyze legal and regulatory developments affecting the asset management industry and advise stakeholders on potential impacts and implementation considerations.
- Assist with regulatory inquiries, examinations, filings, and interactions with governmental agencies and industry regulators.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor
- 3+ years of legal experience supporting asset management companies or advising on registered fund matters
- Familiarity with the Investment Company Act of 1940 & Investment Advisers Act of 1940
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and sound business judgment
