The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an Of Counsel, General Liability Attorney to join its team in Houston, Texas. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for an experienced litigator looking to take ownership of complex defense matters while leveraging the resources and support of a national platform.
The role offers substantial client interaction, hands-on responsibility, and the opportunity to manage sophisticated litigation from inception through resolution. This is a partner-track opportunity for attorneys interested in long-term growth, leadership responsibilities, and continued advancement within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a complex litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Develop and execute case strategy, including discovery planning, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda in state and federal courts
- Conduct and defend depositions and manage written discovery
- Coordinate with expert witnesses and consultants
- Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and other proceedings
- Provide strategic advice and regular case updates to clients
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on complex and multi-jurisdictional matters
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active Texas bar license in good standing
- 8+ years of defense litigation experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- General Liability
- Premises Liability
- Product Liability
- Construction Litigation
- Transportation Litigation
- Insurance Defense
- Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters
- Trial experience preferred but not required
