A leading national defense litigation practice is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3-8 years of litigation experience to join a high‑performing team handling complex general liability matters. This group represents clients in high‑exposure cases across the United States, offering the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging matters in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
The practice focuses on a wide range of liability issues, including:
- General liability
- Premises liability
- Personal injury
- Tort claims
- Insurance defense
- (Preferred) Trucking, transportation, and construction/labor law matters
- (Plus) NY Labor Law §§200, 240, and 241 and OSHA‑related issues
This role offers meaningful responsibility early on and the chance to develop deep experience in high‑stakes litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Collaborate closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex legal issues
- Handle court appearances, depositions, and motion practice
- Communicate with clients regularly and prepare detailed status reports
- Participate in discovery, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in New York
- 3-8 years of litigation experience, including general liability, personal injury, premises liability, and insurance defense
- Preferred experience in trucking, transportation, or construction/labor law
- Understanding of NY Construction Law (Labor Law §§200, 240, 241) and OSHA proceedings is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
- Legal project management experience is beneficial
