A high-growth, technology-driven investment management firm is seeking a General Counsel to serve as a key strategic advisor to executive leadership and help shape the future of a sophisticated quantitative trading and investment platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the chief legal advisor to the firm and executive leadership
  • Provide guidance on legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters
  • Support domestic and international business growth initiatives
  • Oversee matters relating to investment management, trading activities, market structure, and financial regulations
  • Advise on strategic transactions, commercial agreements, technology partnerships, and vendor negotiations
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory authorities
  • Partner with compliance, risk, operations, and business teams to identify and mitigate legal risk
  • Develop and enhance legal policies, controls, and governance frameworks
  • Support board and senior management activities as needed

Ideal Background

  • J.D. from a top-tier law school and active bar membership
  • 12+ years of legal experience, ideally combining major law firm and in-house experience
  • Deep understanding of investment management, hedge funds, quantitative trading, broker-dealer, securities, commodities, or financial regulatory matters
  • Experience advising sophisticated financial institutions, asset managers, trading firms, or fintech organizations
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly analytical environment
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence

Preferred Experience

  • Investment adviser, hedge fund, securities, derivatives, or trading regulation expertise
  • Experience supporting technology-driven financial businesses
  • Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks and cross-border operations
  • Exposure to data governance, intellectual property, and strategic commercial transactions
