Key Responsibilities
- Act as the chief legal advisor to the firm and executive leadership
- Provide guidance on legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters
- Support domestic and international business growth initiatives
- Oversee matters relating to investment management, trading activities, market structure, and financial regulations
- Advise on strategic transactions, commercial agreements, technology partnerships, and vendor negotiations
- Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory authorities
- Partner with compliance, risk, operations, and business teams to identify and mitigate legal risk
- Develop and enhance legal policies, controls, and governance frameworks
- Support board and senior management activities as needed
Ideal Background
- J.D. from a top-tier law school and active bar membership
- 12+ years of legal experience, ideally combining major law firm and in-house experience
- Deep understanding of investment management, hedge funds, quantitative trading, broker-dealer, securities, commodities, or financial regulatory matters
- Experience advising sophisticated financial institutions, asset managers, trading firms, or fintech organizations
- Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
- Proven leadership experience and ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly analytical environment
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence
Preferred Experience
- Investment adviser, hedge fund, securities, derivatives, or trading regulation expertise
- Experience supporting technology-driven financial businesses
- Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks and cross-border operations
- Exposure to data governance, intellectual property, and strategic commercial transactions
