Nationwide - Virtual Office Special Counsel (Remote)

Overview
A leading national labor and employment law firm representing management is seeking experienced employment attorneys (7+ years) to join its Virtual Office as Special Counsel. This is a predominantly remote opportunity offering a flexible work environment while maintaining a full-cycle litigation practice.

Position Summary
In this role, you will manage a wide range of employment matters, including administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation for a diverse client base, including those covered by Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI).

You will be responsible for independently handling matters while also supervising and mentoring other attorneys. This includes developing case strategies, drafting and reviewing legal work product, conducting depositions, and representing clients at hearings, conferences, and trials. While the role is primarily remote, some local travel may be required.

Your practice will primarily focus on administrative matters, demand letters, and single-plaintiff cases, with opportunities to work on class actions, PAGA matters, and other complex employment law issues. You will collaborate closely with partners and a team of attorneys, supported by dedicated paralegals and a shared administrative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employment litigation matters from intake through resolution
  • Respond to administrative agency charges and attorney demand letters
  • Develop case strategies and oversee execution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
  • Conduct depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and trials
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and review their work product
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver efficient client service

Qualifications

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 7+ years of employment law and litigation experience
  • Active bar membership in good standing
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior law firm experience
  • Experience handling EPLI-covered matters
  • Admission to the California Bar

Compensation & Benefits
This position offers an annual salary range of $167,500 - $205,000, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and selected billable hour target.
