Director, Senior Counsel - Antitrust, Sales & Competition
Our client, a Fortune 500 Manufacturer out of the Chicagolad area, is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their legal team. This role will focus on antitrust and competition law, while also supporting sales, marketing, procurement, and other commercial functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in U.S. and global competition laws, a strong business acumen, and the ability to partner cross-functionally in a fast-paced, global manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on antitrust and competition law matters, including pricing, distribution, M&A, joint ventures, and strategic collaborations.
- Advise on commercial transactions, including sales agreements, supply chain contracts, and marketing initiatives.
- Support compliance programs, including training, audits, and policy development related to antitrust and fair competition.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, procurement, and product development to assess legal risks and develop practical solutions.
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory landscapes in the U.S. and internationally, advising on potential business impacts.
- Manage and coordinate with outside counsel on investigations, litigation, and regulatory inquiries.
- Assist in M&A due diligence and integration planning from a competition law perspective.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum 7+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on antitrust and competition law; in-house experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience advising on commercial legal matters in a complex, global business environment.
- Strong understanding of U.S. and international competition laws, including the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, FTC Act, and EU competition regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
