About the Firm

Our client is a leading international private equity firm with a strong global investment platform and a growing presence in Asia, including Korea. The firm invests across a range of sectors and is known for its collaborative, high‑performance culture and long‑term investment approach.

The Role

The firm is seeking a Legal Counsel to be based in Korea, supporting its investment activities across the region. This is a key in‑house role working closely with the investment team on M&A and private equity transactions, from deal execution through to portfolio management.

The ideal candidate will be a US‑qualified lawyer with strong private equity / M&A experience, fluent in native‑level Korean and English, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support across the full lifecycle of private equity transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, co‑investments, and restructurings
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents, including SPAs, LPAs, shareholders' agreements, and ancillary deal documentation
  • Advise investment professionals on structuring, legal risks, and execution matters
  • Support portfolio company matters, including governance, commercial contracts, and strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in cross‑border transactions
  • Advise on Korean legal and regulatory considerations relevant to private equity investments
  • Assist with internal legal matters, policies, and ongoing compliance as required

Requirements

  • US‑qualified lawyer (JD required)
  • 5+ years of post‑qualification experience (PQE)
  • Strong background in M&A and private equity, gained from a top‑tier international law firm and/or reputable in‑house PE platform
  • Native‑level Korean and fluent English (both written and spoken)
  • Solid experience handling complex, cross‑border transactions
