A well-established defense litigation firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Attorney with 5-8 years of relevant practice to join its general liability team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse caseload involving the defense of complex claims such as premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, and construction-related incidents. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cases from inception through resolution, including conducting depositions, drafting and arguing motions, attending court appearances, and collaborating with senior attorneys on trial strategy. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong litigation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Take ownership of cases from intake through resolution, including strategy development, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
- Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, conduct thorough examinations of opposing parties and experts, and defend depositions with strategic objections and guidance
- Conduct in-depth legal research using modern tools to support arguments and stay current on relevant case law, statutes, and procedural rules
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to craft compelling trial narratives, identify key evidence, and anticipate opposing counsel's tactics
- Maintain regular, professional communication with clients to provide updates, manage expectations, and offer strategic advice
Qualifications:
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school
- NY State Bar admission in good standing
- Strong deposition and litigation skills
- Excellent communication and tech proficiency
