About the Opportunity
A leading international law firm is seeking a Senior Insurance Coverage Associate to join its growing coverage practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with experience handling insurance-related matters who is looking to work on sophisticated coverage disputes, bad faith litigation, and business interruption claims on behalf of domestic and international insurers.
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, capable of managing matters independently while taking ownership of complex legal issues and client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Analyze first-party insurance policies and provide coverage advice to insurer clients
- Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and related coverage analyses
- Handle insurance coverage litigation in both state and federal courts
- Assist with declaratory judgment actions and bad faith litigation
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, mediation statements, and other litigation-related filings
- Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses
- Manage written discovery, subpoenas, and document production processes
- Review and analyze large-scale document collections
- Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings and mediations
- Coordinate with experts, consultants, clients, opposing counsel, and courts throughout the litigation process
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar license
- 3-7 years of insurance-related legal experience
- Insurance coverage experience strongly preferred
- Litigation experience required
- Experience with first-party property, product liability, or premises liability matters is a plus
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- Experience handling depositions, motion practice, and complex case management
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working collaboratively within a team environment
