Senior Counsel
A leading owner, operator, and developer of retail and mixed-use real estate is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its legal team. This attorney will serve as a key business partner to leasing, development, acquisitions, asset management, and operations teams, providing legal support across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial real estate agreements, including leases, amendments, easements, estoppels, SNDAs, and related transaction documents.
- Advise on acquisition, disposition, development, redevelopment, and financing matters.
- Partner closely with internal business stakeholders to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Manage legal risk across ongoing projects, leasing transactions, and portfolio operations.
- Coordinate with and oversee outside counsel as needed.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
- Approximately 5-10 years of commercial real estate experience.
- Experience negotiating commercial leases and other real estate transaction documents.
- Background with a commercial real estate company, developer, REIT, owner/operator, national retailer, or leading law firm real estate practice preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business leaders.

- Retail leasing and shopping center experience.
- Mixed-use development and redevelopment projects.
- Landlord-side leasing experience.
- Acquisitions, dispositions, and portfolio management support.
- Experience working in-house or closely partnering with business teams.
