A beloved leader in the Retail space is looking to hire a Corporate Counsel focusing on Real Estate. This store provides stylish, name-brand products to its customers while placing great value on shopper experience. Just like the consumer facing facet of the brand, the legal team prioritizes friendliness, camaraderie, hard work, and growth.
With over 500 locations across the United States, this retailer is looking to hire a Real Estate Counsel to help with any and all real estate and leasing matters, while still providing the corporate generalist support to the legal team. You will be handling retail leasing agreements, landlord-tenant issues, co-tenancy issues, and more
This role is 4 days a week in-office in Charlotte, NC headquarters. OPEN TO RELOCATION CANDIDATES
Responsibilities:
- Handle Retail real estate leasing agreements, i.e. shopping centers/malls, retailer build out, permit, construction
- Manage co-tenancy revisions and handle landlord-tenant issues
- Partner directly with company's internal real estate team
- Oversee real estate litigation
- Negotiate agreements including data security, privacy, technology, vendor IP, and more
- Assist in corporate governance matters when needed
- Expand generalist practice
Requirements:
- JD from accredited law school
- 3-5+ years of Real Estate leasing experience
- Must have RETAIL real estate experience (not just banking/commercial)
- Experience working with co-tenancy revisions
- Ability to work with landlords and handle landlord tenant issues
- Desire to expand skillset in general corporate matters
- Business acumen and growth mindset
- Must have a sense of humor and be able to bring positive energy to the team
- 4 days a week in-office in Charlotte HQ
