Legal Counsel (Shenzhen or Hong Kong) - Chinese Hedge Fund
CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client is a well‑established investment firm with a strong presence across Mainland China and Hong Kong. The business manages a diversified portfolio of onshore and offshore funds and continues to expand its cross‑border asset management capabilities. To support its growing platform, the firm is seeking an experienced legal professional to join its team in either Hong Kong or Shenzhen.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide legal guidance across the firm's asset management and fund operations, covering both USD and RMB products.
- Support the structuring, establishment, and maintenance of onshore and offshore fund vehicles.
- Advise on investment transactions and review relevant documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to oversee regulatory, licensing, and compliance matters under SFC Type 9 and equivalent Mainland China frameworks.
- Collaborate with operations, investment, and management teams to ensure legal risks are effectively identified and mitigated.
- Monitor regulatory updates in Hong Kong and Mainland China affecting fund management activities and recommend appropriate actions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 5-15 years of post‑qualification legal experience within asset management, public funds, or related financial services sectors.
- Prior experience working in Chinese asset management firms, ideally involving SFC Type 9 regulated activities.
- Strong exposure to both onshore and offshore fund structures, including RMB and USD funds.
- Solid understanding of fund operations, investment processes, and asset management compliance frameworks.
- Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese; English proficiency required for cross‑regional collaboration.
- Based in Hong Kong or Shenzhen.
