Labor & Employment Counsel -- Remote Texas

A national client is seeking a Employment Counsel to join their growing team. This primarily remote position focuses on handling a wide range of labor and employment matters including Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI). The Special Counsel will play a key role in managing files independently while also supervising and collaborating with other attorneys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle administrative agency charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation.
  • Develop comprehensive case strategies and oversee matter progression.
  • Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Supervise junior attorneys and contribute to team development.
  • Engage in single‑plaintiff litigation with potential involvement in class actions and a variety of other labor and employment issues.
  • Collaborate closely with partners and a distributed team of attorneys, supported by paralegals and a shared secretarial pool within the Virtual Office.
  • Some local travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in employment law and litigation.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
  • Strong background handling employment matters, including litigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a law firm.
  • Experience with matters involving EPLI.
  • Texas bar admission (in addition to other jurisdictions) is a plus.
