Corporate Paralegal
Position Overview:
Our client, a leading utility provider, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Corporate Paralegal to join their legal team onsite in Tampa, Florida. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior legal leadership, including the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Director of Legal Services, and Assistant General Counsel. The Corporate Paralegal will play a critical role in supporting legal operations, facilitating business transactions, and ensuring compliance across a wide range of corporate legal matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a proactive legal team member, managing intake and response to internal client requests.
- Draft, edit, and manage legal documents including contracts, memoranda, and correspondence.
- Track and maintain company contracts, discovery requests, corporate notices, and real estate/finance documentation.
- Support transaction closings involving loans, property acquisitions/sales, and easements.
- Conduct legal research and assist with factual investigations using litigation databases and research tools.
- Prepare documentation for Board of Trustees meetings, including agendas, minutes, and supporting materials.
- Monitor attorney calendars and coordinate meeting preparation and deliverables.
- Process outside counsel invoices and reconcile department purchasing card (P-Card) statements.
- Collaborate with the Executive Assistant to optimize departmental efficiency and assume duties in their absence.
- Assist with annual financial audit responses and other compliance-related initiatives.
- Maintain department files and board books in an organized and audit-ready format.
- Ensure compliance with NERC standards and internal enterprise compliance protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required; graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a corporate or in-house legal environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and litigation management tools.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities across all levels of the organization.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
