Position Overview:
As a Senior Environmental Attorney, you will play a critical role in supporting their environmental, regulatory, and compliance efforts. You will work closely with the legal team to navigate the complex landscape of environmental and energy laws, ensuring that our client continues to operate in compliance with regulations and strives for environmental sustainability
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the company in state and federal administrative proceedings.
- Negotiate and/or litigate in connection with the cleanup of contaminated sites and in connection with air, waste and water regulatory & compliance matters.
- Prepare regulatory filings and advice to Company management in connection with state and federal environmental matters and proceedings.
- Assist in providing advice and counsel on environmental issues with respect to clean energy and environmental justice programs and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership (admitted to practice law in the State of NY is preferred)
- 5+ years of experience practicing environmental law, with a strong focus on remediation and/or regulatory/compliance matters.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and laws.
- SEQRA and permitting of utility infrastructure experience is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing complex environmental legal matters and regulatory affairs.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to provide creative and pragmatic legal solutions.
