A leader in the utilities space, particualrly for rurual communities, is looking to expand their legal team with a Senior Counsel. As a provider of energy to electric cooperatives, specializing in nuclear, gas, coal, and hydroelectric power generation, they are looking to expand the legal team with a candidate that has extensive expertise in construction law, with a particular focus on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) agreements, high-dollar procurement, and service agreements. This role will support our diverse energy operations and contribute to the strategic management of legal risks associated with major projects and contracts.
The Senior Counsel will:
- Provide expert legal advice on construction law matters, including EPC agreements, procurement, and service agreements. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex EPC contracts, high-value procurement agreements, and service contracts. Oversee contract performance and address any disputes or issues that arise.
- Collaborate with project teams to offer legal guidance on major energy projects, including nuclear, gas, coal, and hydroelectric power plants. Support the development and execution of project strategies.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes related to construction and procurement activities. Represent the company in negotiations, arbitration, and litigation as necessary.
The Senior Counsel must have:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Constructoin law experience and expertise.
- 4 years minimum experience, 3 of which must be at a law firm.
