Larson Maddox is partnered with a dynamic and innovative Utilities company actively seeking an ambitious and qualified individual for the role of Senior Attorney. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in providing legal counsel on corporate policies and state regulatory matters, with a primary focus on proceedings before the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN).
As a Senior Attorney, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, county, and municipal statutes, regulations, and corporate policies. Your primary responsibility will be representing the company before the PUCN and providing legal advice on a wide range of regulatory issues. Additionally, you will draft and review legal documents, advise senior management on compliance strategies, and contribute to the company's overall legal strategy.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal requirements and company policies.
- Develop and present recommendations to senior management regarding compliance strategies and legal risks.
- Provide legal assessments, interpretations, and recommendations on federal, state, county, and municipal statutes, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Recommend the application of corporate policies and legal controls to protect the company's interests.
- Draft and revise various legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, testimony, and regulatory filings.
- Advise internal stakeholders on the interpretation of statutes, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Monitor and enforce compliance requirements for the area of responsibility.
- Represent the company in administrative proceedings before the PUCN, including general rate cases and integrated resource plans.
Specific Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Qualification for membership with the State Bar of Nevada (within one year of starting the position).
- Minimum of five years experience in a law firm, government, or corporate setting. Regulatory experience is preferred.
- Capacity to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, manage and prioritize multiple legal initiatives, and deliver commitments.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated knowledge of research and analysis techniques and application of federal, state, and local government laws and regulations.
- Ability to assess implications of proposed actions/arguments and respond appropriately in internal and external forums.
